Meatloaf Recipe

With our meatloaf recipe we are going to prove that you can prepare meals that are healthy and delicious.

This recipe is very low in calories and cholesterol. So if you worry about consuming too much fat or are just on a low-calorie diet, you’re good to go with this meatloaf.

Meatloaf

This is a well-known meal. It’s cooked around world. But it varies in each region in terms of ingredients. For instance, in the united kingdom they prepare it with different kinds of red meat and vegetables. In Spain they use rabbit meat; in the region of Murcia they prepare it with veal, hard pork sausage, eggs and cover it with a puff pastry.

How to cook meatloaf

First of all, this recipe takes a time. But when you finish and serve it, you will see that it’s worth it. So, dedicate time to it the day you decide to make it.

Well, this is a baked meal, you need to use your oven. Preheat to 350°F. Combine the tomato paste, wine, water, garlic, basil, oregano, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Set aside.

Then ccombine the turkey, oatmeal, egg substitute, zucchini, and ½ cup of the tomato mixture in a large bowl. Mix well. Shape into a loaf, and place in an ungreased 8″ x 4″ loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes. Discard any drippings. Pour ½ cup of the remaining tomato mixture over the top of the loaf. Bake for 15 minutes longer.

Remove to a serving platter. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve the remaining tomato sauce on the side.

There are recipe variations that takes less or even more to bake. But most meatloaf recipes goes with 45 minutes. 

How to season meatloaf

You can season it with salt and pepper. This is how most people do it. But I will reveal one of my secret. Sometime season it one day before with soy and garlic sauces. It may sound strange to you. But when I cook meat, I always season it with those sauces. It’s my preference!

Ingredients

  • 1 can (6 oz) no-salt-added tomato paste
  • ½ c dry red wine
  • ½ c water
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp dried basil leaves
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1 c oatmeal
  • ¼ c liquid egg substitute
  • ½ c shredded zucchini

Instructions
